After The Biggest Loser 15 winner Rachel Frederickson weighed in at just 15 lbs on the season finale, a mass outcry arose that she’d lost too much, too fast. Even we couldn’t help but ponder on whether going from a size 20 to a size zero in just a few short months was healthy.

The Biggest Loser 15 Top 3

The Biggest Loser winner Rachel Frederickson was quick to reassure everyone her weight loss was all natural and there was nothing wrong, even though being just 105 lbs at 5 foot 5 puts her strongly in the underweight category according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

In a press conference after the finale, hen questioned about whether she had lost too much weight, too swiftly, Rachel repeatedly avoided answering directly about whether she was too thin. Instead, she just continued to talk about how empowering her journey has been, and that she achieved her weight loss in a natural way by eating “1600 calories” a day and exercising for hours every day. Rachel’s health is and always has been my main concern and her journey to good health has not yet ended!!”

Even The Biggest Loser trainer Dolvett Quince, who oversaw Rachel’s weight loss, has avoided directly answering the question of whether she has lost too much. “Biggest Loser is a journey which has its ups and downs. Please try not to look at one slice of Rachel’s journey and come to broad conclusions,” he wrote on Facebook.

Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels

As for The Biggest Loser 2014 trainers Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper, who looked stunned at Rachel’s weight loss at the finale, they issued a joint statement saying, basically, it was none of their business.

“Bob and I want to take a moment to congratulate all of the BL contestants on their hard work,” Michaels wrote on Facebook.

“We’re not comfortable commenting on Rachel’s journey because [we] weren’t her trainers and weren’t given an opportunity to work with her at any point,” she continued. “Any questions about the contestants on the Biggest Loser should be directed to the show’s producers.”
