Jersey Shore star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino confirmed rumors on Wednesday he has entered a drug rehab program. Although he initially denied reports he had checked into rehab, “The Situation” admitted Wednesday he had decided to seek help for a problem with prescription drug addiction.
When reports initially surfaced that Jersey Shore star was in rehab, Sorrentino at first denied it was true. “Don’t believe everything you read or hear,” he posted Tuesday on his Twitter feed. After the rumor continued to spread, Sorrentino finally confessed he was seeking help.
In a statement posted on his official website and Twitter feed, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino said he has entered a rehab facility “to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion.” “The Situation” is reportedly serving his time in rehab at the lush Cirque Lodge treatment center in Utah.
“I have voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion,” his statement said. “I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule. I appreciate my fans support and love you guys.”
The fifth season of Jersey Shore ended earlier this month, but the show has been renewed for a sixth season by MTV.
