The Voice 2012 Live Quarterfinals Recap: Team Adam and Team Cee Lo (VIDEOS)

On Monday night, The Voice 2012 live quarterfinals round two kicked off with members from Team Adam Levine and Team Cee Lo Green battling it out to see who would make it through to next week. The Voice instant elimination results were back again Monday night, forcing Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green to each choose one contestant from their teams to send home.

Last week on The Voice 2012, instant eliminations were a huge shock to the fans when former favorites Jordis Unga, and the much praised Jesse Campbell, were thrown out by judges Blake Shelton and Christina Aguilera. While some had predicted Jordis Unga might not make it through last week, virtually no one had expected Jesse Campbell to be eliminated, especially not by his own team judge.

WARNING: THE VOICE 2012 SPOILERS AHEAD

Please be aware that this post contains The Voice 2012 spoilers for Monday night’s live quarterfinals show with Team Adam Levine and Team Cee Lo!

How did The Voice 2012 instant eliminations from Team Adam Levine and Team Cee Lo Green shake out this week? Will fans once again be outraged over who the judges decided to send home? Read on for our The Voice 2012 recap of the live quarterfinals round 2 and watch the performances for yourself!

Jamar Rogers (Team Cee Lo) – “It’s My Life” by Jon Bon Jovi

Comments: Jamar is hot tonight and so is the stage production. One of his best performances in my opinion. This could definitely get him through to the next round.

Judges: Adam Levine thinks the performance is awesome. Blake Shelton is also loving the song choice and thinks Jamar is the perfect fit on Cee Lo’s team. Christina Aguilera loves how Jamar made the song his own. Cee Lo Green says Jamar is a survivor and an inspiration. I’d say the judges are pretty much all over this performance.

Katrina Parker (Team Adam) – “Jar of Hearts” by Christina Perri

Comments: An intersting song choice and honestly, a rather good performance, although not my favorite of hers so far this season. Still, it is very strong and the judges seem quite taken with it.

Judges: Blake thinks this is a break through performances for Katrina and says he finally really noticed her. Christina says Katrina needs to keep doing her own thing and says she is consistent. Cee Lo thinks Katrina looked and sounded beautiful and he really felt her emotions with the song. Adam says that although Katrina was not one of his favorites, he is really proud of her and how she has evolved and says the performance was flawless.

Cee Lo and his team join together on stage for a performance of “Dancing In The Streets” by Martha and the Vandellas. Too much fun!

Mathai (Team Adam) – “I’m Like A Bird” by Nelly Furtado

Comments: Mathai looks gorgeous but I’m not sold on the song choice or the performance. I thought it lacked emotion and felt shallow. Not Mathai’s best performance by far. I think this performance could send Mathai home.

Judges: Blake Shelton thought the song was beautiful but doesn’t like some of the production qualities. Christina says she did not feel Mathai connected with the song and it was forced. Adam thought it was joyful and Mathai’s energy was infectious.

James Massone (Team Cee Lo) – “Just The Way You Are” by Billy Joel

Comments: I like James, but I did not like him on this song. His voice is beautiful but the song just doesn’t gel quite right. He could have invested it with more passion as well.

Judges: Blake says he has always been a big fan of James, but he is not fond of the song choice. Christina also says she was not really into the song choice and it could have been better. Cee Lo says he loves James because his voice is so genuine and natural.

Tony Lucca (Team Adam) – “Oh Baby Baby” by Britney Spears

Comments: I really never would have imagined Tony singing this song, but it is actually quite fabulous! The whole production is over the top and totally fun and Tony actually sounds really good on kind of an unusual song choice, which makes him stand out. Tony may just have saved himself with this one.

Judges: Christina thought the performance was totally fun and really liked it. Blake says the whole thing was very smart and smiles a lot. Adam says he loves tony and it was a fantastic idea to do something so different and pull it off so well.

Cheesa (Team Cee Lo) – “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston

Comments: Wow, this was a smoking hot performance. Maybe not totally perfect, but really, really strong and I think Cheesa should get through to the next round on this one. Tackling Whitney Houston is always risky and she did great with it.

Judges: Christina thinks Cheesa did her own thing with the song and is proud of her for going after it. Cee Lo grins from ear to ear and is very impressed.

Pip (Team Adam) – “Somewhere Only We Know” by KEANE

Comments: Adam says Pip is at risk and I have to agree. The song is nice, but not a blow out success, although it had a lot of passion and emotion behind it. There was just no perfect save moment with this performance and I think Pip could end up going home.

Judges: Blake thought the performance was good but fell apart at the end. Adam says Pip did well although it was not perfect, but he is proud of him. They judges all around are not lavish with the praise.

Adam Levine hits the stage to perform “How In The World” by Family Force 5 with his team and it is a blast!

Juliet Simms (Team Cee Lo) – “Crying” by Aerosmith

Comments: Juliet really pulled out all the stops tonight and it was like something out of a crazy rock concert. She comes out on stage wearing black angel wings and feathers end up swirling all over the stage. The production overwhelms the song a little bit though and Juliet has a few moments where she is not quite on pitch.

Judges: Christina loves that Juliet is so carefree on stage and thinks it was fabulous. Blake jokes the performance was a bonus for him because the feathers remind him of duck season. Cee Lo is impressed, respects Juliet’s artistry and voice and says she is his little red corvet.

Following the performances of the remaining contestants on Team Adam Levine and Team Cee Lo Green, the two contestants who were sent home in The Voice 2012 instant eliminations for this round were:

Team Adam Levine

Pip has been sent home in The Voice 2012 instant elimination results.

  1. I was very disappointed that Jesse had been eliminated by Christina. I thought to myself what reasoning she could’ve used to not only remove a front runner, but also such a naturally gifted singer? Was it lack of: ability, showmanship, class, charisma, style, creativity, or maybek to much of the above? I still can’t see her reasoning other than he was to much for her in the first to have chosen and not able to envision his incredible potential. My view she took show out of the .forefront of talent competition with poor judgement. Something that I believe the public wouldn’t have concluded to at this stage of the show. I have no desire to continue watching this show.
