RECAP: The Voice season 3 finals start off tonight with a moving tribute to the fallen victims of the Newtown school shooting. The Voice 2012 coaches and the contestants all took the stage to perform a somber, teary version of “Hallelujah” while holding cards with the names and ages of those killed in the terrible tragedy. Thinking of all those kids and their brave teachers just breaks my heart.

On The Voice 2012 finals for season 3 this evening, the top 3 contestants will be performing solo songs and duets with their coaches. They will be reprising their most standout performances from earlier in the season in hope of capturing another ‘wow’ moment in front of the voters during the finale. Ready to find out who soared and who fell flat? Our recap starts now!

Nicholas David (Team Cee Lo Green) – “Great Balls of Fire” by Jerry Lee Lewis and “Fire” by Jimmy Hendricks

Judges: Adam Levine says he is so happy and it was great to see a different side of Nicholas. He thought it was fun and entertaining. Blake says it was a lot of fun and he is glad Nicholas went there. Cee Lo says sometimes we forget this whole thing is supposed to be fun. He says Nicholas’ humility is heartwarming, but his fire burned it down tonight.

Cassadee Pope – “Over You” by Miranda Lambert

Judges: Christina Aguilera says Cassadee looks stunning and gorgeous. She thinks Cassadee nailed the song and was very emotive. Christina says she can sing anything and it is too bad she is on Blake’s team. Adam says the coolest thing about her voice is how developed and finely tuned it is. She has a lot to be proud of. Blake says Cassadee knows how he feels about the song and it was perfect. He says this is a song of healing and America has a heavy heart right now. She had a great moment and she amazes him.

DUET: Terry McDermott & Blake Shelton – “Dude (Looks Like a Lady)” by Aerosmith

Nicholas David – “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers

Judges: Adam says Nicholas knows how much he loves him and it was a great version of the song. Cee Lo says he is in awe and he appreciates Nicholas so much. He really believes in him and is moved by him. He says he doesn’t have anything fancy to share, but something sincere: “I love you man.”

Terry McDermott – “Broken Wings” by Mr. Mister

Judges: Adam says there was something off in the beginning but he overcame it because he is a great singer. That is why he is here. Adam says even with the wobble, he nailed it. Blake says it is really hard to do what Terry does up there and he does it every week. Nobody rocks it like Terry does.

DUET: Cassadee Pope & Blake Shelton – “Steve McQueen” by Cheryl Crow

Terry McDermott – “I Want to Know What Love Is” by Foreigner

Judges: Christina says Terry’s voice is incredible but it also takes hard work to be on this show and Terry has done it. Blake says it is interesting Terry picked this song as his breakout performance because he sang it with so much passion and it was even better this time. He says Terry just drives him crazy he’s so good and he is honored to work with him.

DUET: Nicholas David and Cee Lo Green – “Play That Funky Music” by Wild Cherry

Cassadee Pope – “Cry” by Faith Hill

Judges: Adam says he really wanted her on his team and he has been very critical. He doesn’t care though because she has done everything he wanted for her. Blake says there really isn’t anything else he can contribute. He has never heard her sing as well as she has tonight.
