Join us for our live The Voice recap of the top 8 performance show and let us know who are your favorites to move on to the next round!

WARNING: THE VOICE SEASON 3 SPOILERS AHEAD!

This post contains The Voice spoilers from the top 8 performance show. Please stop reading here if you do not want to know what happened!

Last week on The Voice season 3, Sylvia Yacoub of Team Christina Aguilera and Bryan Keith of Team Adam Levine were eliminated, reducing the remaining contestants from 10 to 8. On The Voice 2012 season 3 tonight, those top 8 will be performing once again purely for America’s votes. The Voice 2012 coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green can give their judgements on who rocked and who failed, but they can only sit back and watch to see if the voters agree.

Coach Christina Aguilera is clearly hoping that an infusion of Justin Bieber madness can keep her last singer in the competition this week. She has reportedly chosen a Justin Bieber song for cute boy Dez Duron to perform on The Voice season 3 this evening, perhaps hoping to coax Bieber fans into voting for Dez this week.

The Voice 2012 season 3 tonight will also feature a special guest appearance from Adam Levine and 50 cent performing “My Life”.

Going into tonight’s show, The Voice season 3 top 8 contestants are:

  • Team Adam Levine – Amanda Brown & Melanie Martinez
  • Team Cee Lo Green – Cody Belew, Nicholas David & Trevin Hunte
  • Team Christina Aguilera – Dez Devon
  • Team Blake Shelton – Cassadee Pope & Terry McDermott

Who will make their fans proud on The Voice season 3 live top 8 performance show tonight? Hang out with us right here at 8PM ET for our live The Voice recap of the top 8 performance show!

RECAP: First up, before we get to The Voice top 8 doing their individual performances, we have a guest appearance from 50 Cent with Adam Levine singing “My Life”.

Now that we have gotten the requisite coach performance out of the way, it is time for the top 8 to take the stage!

Amanda Brown – “Someone Like You” by Adele

Judges: Blake says he really enjoyed the performance and he loved the rocker in her. He can’t get enough! Christina says it was another dynamic and powerful vocal performance. She changed it up, but Christina is still waiting to understand her as an artist. Cee Lo says he believes the reward is in the risks and she is brave enough to take those risks. Adam says he is hard on people who do Adele songs but this was not at all like the original. They are hard on here because they just expect so much from her.

Cody Belew – “Somebody To Love” by Queen

Judges: Adam says this is one of his favorite songs and that Freddie Mercury really exposes his weaknesses. It was a very theatrical performance and it was a great job. The judges really enjoy everything he does. Blake says it is awesome when you see the right connection to a song. He has the talent to do these big performances and it is impressive. Christina says she enjoys that Cody is a risk taker and is not afraid to try something different. Cee Lo says it was wonderful and he is proud of Cody’s growth at such a fast rate. Cody makes him feel confident about his decisions and he loves their partnership. He actually says he’s found a good friend in Cody… awwwhhhh!

The individual performances are interrupted by a group performance from Melanie Martinez, Cassadee Pope, Dez Duron and Terry McDermott singing “Move Along”. Thankfully, we get to move along past that pretty quickly.

Terry McDermott – “Over” by Blake Shelton

Judges: Christina says Terry is always solid with his vocals and it was great in the second verse. It was a bit unexpected but a solid performance. Cee Lo says he is a big fan and Terry reminds him of the great rock singer Bruce Dickerson. Adam says that is what the song is supposed to sound like right? Just kidding. He says he is also a big fan and it was great. Blake says he did the song the way he wishes he could do it and it was amazing. He has proven himself as a real artist. He is a star and can do anything with what he is given.

Melanie Martinez – “Too Close” by Alex Clare

Judges: Blake says her voice just melts him and she is one of his favorites. He is glad she has her tambourine back and she is always brilliant. Christina says it was a really cute set and she liked it, it was her favorite performance from her so far. Cee Lo says the set was very cool and the new arrangement sounded great. She made it her own and the song showcased her cool voice. Adam says he loves her. When you are going through a breakup, you want to make the person who broke up with you feel like an idiot and that song did jut that. He loves seing a real artist up there who cares about every part of the performance.

Dez Duron – “U Smile” by Justin Bieber

Judges: Cee Lo says he always gives Dez credit when it is due. However, this was not his best performance. Adam says he loved the groove he was in and he applauds him for not looking back. Blake syas he has a star quality and last week was a big deal and he really had it going. Blake is happy he tried to go there again tonight. Christina says he killed it and made the song into something really special. She says no one else on the show can do what he does. (What? Be a young, cute, Justin Bieber wannabe? You are right. :P)

Trevin Hunte – “The Greatest Love of All” by Whitney Houston

Judges: Adam says when he dies and goes to heaven, he hopes this is what he hears. He loves it. Trevin can sing whatever he wants, it doesn’t matter because they love it. Blake says Trevin is just amazing and a good dude as well. This song was totally in his wheelhouse and this is the guy his team has to figure out how to beat. Christina says it was a wonderful job although she doesn’t think he fully captured the song. His voice is a huge beast though. Cee Lo says he is very proud and he thinks Whitney would be proud too. The sweetest thing about Trevin is his humility.

We interrupt the performances once again for another group sing but before we get to that, there is a big, fat surprise for Terry McDermott. It is his wife’s birthday this week and they have surprised him by flying her in and making his face explode in crazy happy land. These two sure do have the hots for each other if all that snogging is any indication…

And now for our next group performance with Amanda Brown, Trevin Hunte, Cody Belew and Nicholas David singing “Any Way You Want It” by Journey. Yay and stuff.

Nicholas David – “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye

Judges: (I love Nicholas, but he needs to do something contemporary or he is going to get voted off.) Adam says every week is a dream song for him. He loves the elemant Nicholas gives the show and the soulful songs. He is a forever fan. Blake says he feels like he is always learning something new from Nicholas and he is amazing. He is grateful The Voice could introduce Nicholas to the world. Cee Lo says good music is healing and the world could use more of that. He loves Nicholas so much.

Cassadee Pope – “Are You Happy Now” by Michelle Branch”

Judges: (In the pimp spot this week although she doesn’t need it… conspiracy theories about her being set to win, y’all?) Cee Lo says he is not happy at all right now because she might win the competition. Adam says his band used to open for Michelle Branch and he was afraid of the smoke machine. He says Cassadee is the frontrunner in this competition (really? I think she is kind of boring) and she did a great job again this time. Blake says last week she was vulnerable, this week she showed she is just as strong as everyone else in the competition. He thanks her being part of Team Blake!

  1. Thank you, I was beginning to think that I was the only one who considered Casadee an overrated, generic pop singer.
I can’t imagine a concert, of her, she feels so synthetic. But then again, I’m not 13 (although in answer to your critics, there’s a lots of years between 13 and menopausal)

  2. Cassadee has a good ear, performs well, but not a pretty tone to her voice ๐Ÿ™
    GREAT RECAP. Loved it.
I liked Nicholas (even though I don’t like that song, I do now)!
    Melanie! Sounds like Abra Moore.
Amanda Brown- wish she would sing a Heart song.

  3. Hey, you must be psychic! Since I had everything removed because I had cancer several years ago, I am indeed menopausal! (BTW, you don’t have to be OLD to be menopausal when that happens so remember, one does not equal the other!) However, I will say that I was probably just as much of a snarky b**ch before that happened… ๐Ÿ™‚
