Being signed by Simon Cowell is a dream come true for the girls of Fifth Harmony, who hope to follow in the footsteps of The X Factor UK group One Direction. Both groups were put together on their respective seasons by Cowell from solo auditioners who failed to make the cut as individuals.

Simon Cowell told People magazine he knew from the first moment the ladies of Fifth Harmony performed together, he’d made the right move to form them into a group. He said the chemistry they share is just “fantastic.”

Fifth Harmony’s Ally Brooke, 19, Camilia Cabello, 15, Dinah Jane Hansen, 15, Lauren Jauregui, 16, and Normani Hamilton, 16, will now seek their fame and fortune with Cowell’s Syco Music and X Factor judge L. A. Reid‘s Epic Records.

One Direction went on from their third place finish on The X Factor UK to become a worldwide phenomenom. Fifth Harmony will likely have a harder role as girl groups traditionally find difficulty in acquiring the same massive fan base as boy bands.
