The X Factor 2012 judge L. A. Reid will not be returning to the show for season three, the Epic Records chairman announced on Thursday. L. A. Reid was the first judge to be hired by producer and fellow judge Simon Cowell in season one of the show. While Reid says he is “honored” to have been part of The X Factor judges panel, he is ready to put his focus back on the business of making great records.
“I have the utmost respect for Simon Cowell,” Reid said Thursday, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “He is the very best, and I have had the opportunity to learn so much from him. Working with him on X Factor has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I’m honored to have sat on the panel with such incredible talent.”
L. A. Reid was the only judge who was not fired from the judges panel after The X Factor season 1. Fellow The X Factor judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul were both axed, as was host Steve Jones, prior to The X Factor season 2. According to Reid, it has been a terrific run, but he is ready to return to his first love in the music industry.
“Of course, I will miss the show,” Reid said. “In my opinion Simon attracts the best talent but I’m looking forward to getting back to my core business and the responsibility of running Epic Records.”
So far there has been no official word on whether The X Factor 2012 judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato will return for season 3
