The X Factor season 2 contestants are dropping like flies as two more talented singers go home tonight. The X Factor results show is always painful to watch, but it gets worse every week as we race toward the finale just three weeks away. One of he big questions tonight is whether or not underdog Paige Thomas managed to save herself last week with an unorthodox and highly entertaining performance. Coach Demi Lovato sure hopes so, or she could end up losing all of her remaining team members this week. If you’ve just managed to rickroll millions of viewers and entertain them at the same time, don’t you deserve the chance to make it to the next round? Join us here for our live The X Factor USA recap of the top 8 results show and find out with us who got voted off X Factor 2012 season 2 this week!
WARNING: THE X FACTOR 2012 SPOILERS AHEAD!
This post contains The X Factor USA spoilers for season 2, episode 20. Please stop reading if you do not want to know what happened and who went home on The X Factor 2012 season 2 this week!
One contestant we can pretty much be certain will not be going home on The X Factor season 2 this week is 13-year-old Carly Rose Sonenclar. Simon Cowell again accused Carly Rose of being an alien last night after she blew everyone away with a soulful, unique version of Adele‘s “Rolling in the Deep”. As much as I detest anyone covering Adele, even I was impressed, although I personally did not like the arrangement. Doesn’t matter though, she still killed it. She should just start going by Carly Rose right now and start practicing her signature for all those contracts headed her way.
Due to her incredibly hot performance last night on The X Factor season 2, I am hopeful that Paige Thomas has redeemed herself enough to buy another week in the competition as well. Frankly, I’m not really a fan, but I think she deserves at least one more round after her bold performance of the ‘rickroll’ classic “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley. I must admit, however, that I thought her hip gyrations were a BIT out of control. She looked at times like she air humping an invisible lover. Yikes.
As for who will probably go home on The X Factor USA season 2 this week, I have to say I think CeCe Frey’s time on the show is done. She has been riding at the bottom for weeks and came in last in the voting results from the previous round. Last night, CeCe Frey failed to deliver a good performance at all and was heavily criticized by the judges. I think she is going out the door tonight on The X Factor elimination results. I am not sure who to predict for the second elimination tonight, but if Paige Thomas has managed to save herself this week, I am kind of leaning toward Fifth Harmony or Emblem3 to get voted off X Factor this week. Vino Alan did a bad job last night too, but his voting rank has been pretty consistently high. Diamond White could get voted off, but I think the Whitney Houston song might have given her enough of a boost to get through to next week.
Here is the voter ranking of the top 8 finalists from last week going into tonight’s The X Factor results show:
1. Carly Rose Sonenclar (Team Britney)
2. Tate Stevens (Team L. A.)
3. Vino Alan (Team L. A.)
4. Emblem3 (Team Simon)
5. Diamond White (Team Britney)
6. Paige Thomas (Team Demi)
7. Fifth Harmony (Team Simon)
8. CeCe Frey (Team Demi)
Who will go home on The X Factor USA 2012 this round? We’ll be right here with our live The X Factor recap of this week’s elimination results show at 8PM ET!
RECAP: Tonight’s show kicks off with a short recap of last night’s performances. I am again impressed by Carly Rose and her amazingness and put off by CeCe Frey and her inability to recognize last night’s song choice was totally terrible.
Rushing right to the good stuff tonight, we are going to learn the first act to be eliminated right now.
Despite doing a fabulous job of redeeming herself last night with a very original performance that was probably one of her best all season, the first singer sent packing this evening is… Paige Thomas.
Things are not looking good for Team Demi Lovato tonight as her other remaining singer, CeCe Frey, could very well end up going home tonight too.
Now we have to fill up the rest of the hour before we get to the next set of results and tonight’s sing-off. So we have season one finalist Josh Krajcik on stage to give us a performance of his new song “One Thing She’ll Never Know”. Josh was at the top of my favorites in season one, so it is delightful to see him again.
Wow, well, tonight’s results are coming in fast, or so it seems to us. After that lovely guest performance from Josh, we’re on to our next announcement.
The five acts safe tonight from elimination are (not in order)…
Carly Rose Sonenclar
Okay, I have to scream a little bit here. The only reason I can think of why CeCe Frey should not be in the bottom two tonight is that she is the frontrunner on VotefortheWorst.com. Seriously! Poor Vino Alan, it has got to suck to know he’s headed into a sing-off against Diamond White while CeCe Frey stays high and dry tonight.
Personally, Vino is not my favorite singer, but he’s been in the top of the vote getters for weeks. Now, suddenly, he is plunged to the bottom BELOW CeCe Frey after one tepid performance. Ouch! I also think Diamond White is better than CeCe, even if she is not my cup of tea.
As far as Fifth Harmony goes, I’m actually more of a fan of them than of Vino and that is saying a lot since I usually don’t like group acts. Still, they have failed to mesh into a GROUP act very well and just keep singing like individuals who just happen to all be on stage together–which is what happened last night. So I think they have ended up in the sing-off tonight with CeCe.
Before we get to the sing-off tonight, we have another guest performance. This time it is Alicia Keys with “Girl on Fire”. For some reason, I just get irked by hearing this song because you have to know she was well aware she was playing on the whole Hunger Games thing when she titled this. Be original, please.
For those who want to participate in the Pepsi Challenge thing and vote for the songs to be sung next week, you can go here. Note, of course, that the page states all “final creative decisions for The X Factor are made at producers’ sole discretion.” So, if they don’t like your votes, they are going to do what they want anyway.
Finally, it is time for the sing-off between Vino Alan and Diamond White!
Diamond White – “I Was Here” by Beyonce
Vino Alan – “Trouble” by Ray LaMontagne
Judges: L. A. Reid, of course, votes for Diamond White to go home so he can save his boy Vino. Britney Spears, naturally, votes to send Vino packing to save her girl Diamond. Demi Lovato decides to side with Britney and votes against Vino. Simon Cowell now has the deciding vote and he has chosen to vote for… Vino Alan to go home.
[More coming soon in our The X Factor 2012 recap of the season 2 top 8 elimination results show… stay tuned!]
Here are The X Factor USA season 2 top 6 remaining contestants, ranked by this week’s votes:
1. Carly Rose Sonenclar
2. Tate Stevens
4. Fifth Harmony
5. CeCe Frey
6. Diamond White
* Personally I think Fifth Harmony got a boost because of the whole thing about Ally’s grandfather dying. The sympathy vote is a big thing on these shows. I have no explanation for CeCe being fifth.
Eliminated: Paige Thomas & Vino Alan
