Former Republican congressman Tom DeLay made it to the dance floor one last time on Dancing With the Stars this week despite dealing with twin stress fractures. DeLay announced on Wednesday he would be leaving the competition due the stress of his injuries, putting partner Cheryl Burke out of the game as well.

Even though Tom Delay and Cheryl Burke managed to pull high enough scores to stay in the competition, DeLay told the judges he would be unable to continue. “You can’t practice and if you can’t practice you make a fool of yourself out here. I don’t want to do that to Cheryl,” DeLay said.
“I’m really disappointed I can’t go any further,” DeLay said on Good Morning America on Thursday. “[But] you have to practice in order to be in this competition. It was too hard. I decided it was time to bow out.”
Leaving the show the old fashioned way via low votes and scores, Debi Mazar and partner Maksim Chmerkovsky also took their final bow on Dancing With the Stars on Wednesday.
“I definitely know a few more steps, and I’ve had a great time,” Mazar said after the elimination. “I’ve loved every moment of it, I have great new friends. And Maks, I loved my time with Maks.”
