When X Factor returns to Fox in the fall, there will be some dramatic changes to the cast. According to insiders with the show, X Factor season two in the U.S. will air return without judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger. Host Steve Jones will also reportedly be ditched for the next season.

Sources close to the show first leaked the news of the outings at X Factor on Monday night. First the news seeped out that X Factor host Steve Jones would not be returning for the second season. Then the gossip mill flared up even hotter with rumors that both Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul would be out as well in a firing “bloodbath” at the show due to low ratings and heavy criticism of the first season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the decision to dump Jones, Abdul and Scherzinger was handed down during a conference in the U.K. between show creator Simon Cowell and his team. The New York Daily News referred to the mass firing as ‘Simon’s Monday Night Massacre.’

Host Steve Jones was reportedly notified he would not be returning for X Factor season two around 7:30PM on Monday. Jones confirmed the news of his departure via Twitter. “I won’t be hosting next seasons X Factor which is a shame but I cant complain as I’ve had a great time,” Jones posted. “Good luck to everyone on the show.”

Next up, Nicole Scherzinger reportedly got the axe, although E! News claims a source told them the former Pussycat Dolls singer decided to leave on her own. “She wants to focus on her music career,” the source told E! News. “She’s spoken to Simon [Cowell] and he’s given her his blessing. X Factor took a lot more of her time than she ever expected. She didn’t have any time really to work on her music.”

Last to allegedly get the boot was former American Idol judge Paula Abdul, although there has been no comment from her reps so far. FOX has only officially confirmed that Steve Jones and Nicole Scherzinger will not be returning. If Paula Abdul is indeed out as well, that will leave only Simon Cowell and record producer Antonia “L.A.” Reid returning next season.

No word yet on who might be filling in as replacements for the axed host and judges for X Factor season two.
