On The X Factor season 2 Thursday night, two of the remaining singers will be headed out the door in a double elimination. Who was voted off The X Factor 2012 season 2 this week? Join us for our live The X Factor recap and watch the results with us!

This post contains The X Factor USA spoilers for season 2, episode 18. Please stop reading if you do not want to know what happened and who went home on The X Factor 2012 season 2 this week!

Last night on The X Factor 2012 season 2, the top 12 singers performed songs by ‘divas’ with varying degrees of success. Current vote frontrunner Tate Stevens wowed the judges again with his performance of Shania Twain‘s “From This Moment”, as did Team Britney Spears teen Carly Rose Sonenclar with her rendition of Celine Dion‘s “My Heart Will Go On”. Fifth Harmony was also among the stars of last night’s show with their lovely rendition of “Hero” by Mariah Carey. Of the groups, they seem to have the strongest fan base support as well.

Diamond White, Jennel Garcia and Emblem3 all did admirable jobs and are unlikely to be in any danger in The X Factor elimination results show tonight if their previous voting rank is any indication. Beatrice Miller also performed decently, although some of the judges did not like her song choice. She could possibly be in trouble considering her voting rank last week.

While Lyric 145 and Vino Alan failed to impress quite as much on last night’s The X Factor 2012 live show, they are likely safe this evening. I’m not so sure about Paige Thomas though. Even though she had a decent voting rank, her performance last night was truly bad.

Unfortunately for both Arin Ray and CeCe Frey, last night’s songs on The X Factor top 12 live performance show did not turn out very well at all. Both received little praise from the judges. Despite performing in the final ‘pimp’ spot last night, it is very likely CeCe Frey will be one of those who was voted off The X Factor USA this evening. Arin Ray could maybe squeak through on the ‘cute’ factor, but he is also in serious danger of going home.

Going into the show tonight, here is the current breakdown of the The X Factor season 2 top 12 finalists and their respective teams:

1. Tate Stevens (Team L. A. Reid)
2. Carly Rose Sonenclar (Team Britney Spears)
3. Vino Alan (Team L. A. Reid)
4. Diamond White (Team Britney Spears)
5. Fifth Harmony (Team Simon Cowell)
6. Emblem3 (Team Simon Cowell)
7. Jennel Garcia (Team Demi Lovato)
8. Paige Thomas (Team Demi Lovato)
9. Lyric 145 (Team Simon Cowell)
10. Beatrice Miller (Team Britney Spears)
11. Arin Ray (Team Britney Spears)
12. CeCe Frey (Team Britney Spears)

RECAP: To kick off the show tonight we have a mini-recap of the performances from last night with some footage from the contestants backstage. Tate Stevens shows off his soft, squishy side as he hugs his wife and says his performance was for her.

Beatrice loves that her coach Britney stood up for her to Simon Cowell, but she’s afraid she may be going home with such a low standing in the votes. Lyric 145 talks smack about how there are few people out there who could have rocked a song like they did with only a few hours to prepare it. L. A. Reid agrees with them.

Arin Ray is not happy about his performance and he shouldn’t be. It was not good last night. Paige Thomas, on the other hand, is happy with her song, which she dedicated to her family. I didn’t think it was that great personally. Cutie Carly Rose is over the moon about the hugely positive response to her Celine Dion song. L. A. Reid swings by to tell her it is just impossible that she is so good.

Vino is hoping the voters will keep standing behind him and he’s pleased with how he did this week. I think it was so-so, but he’s probably safe. Emblem3 thought they were “legit”, which is a word I wish would be cut from the English language. CeCe Frey knows she is in deep crap after her performance and bursts into tears. Tate, being the honorable cowboy he is, tries to comfort her.

Host Mario Lopez announces they will once again announce the vote rankings for all of the contestants tonight. You have to admit, that is kind of cool. Not only does it (hopefully) show transparency in the voting results, but it tells people when their favorites are in danger and they need to get out the vote for who they want to move on to the next round.

Mario says the first act leaving the competition tonight is…

And commercial break, of course.

Well! Just call me terrible with my predictions tonight because I thought this act would be safe this week.

The first act going home on The X Factor USA season 2 this evening is… Lyric 145!

Lyric Da Queen reveals that they had planned to do a hip-hop song but it was taken away from them at the last minute. Hmmm. Wonder what that was all about and if they would be going home if that had not happened.

That is a bummer. Although they were not really my style of music, I thought this group was creative, out of the box and had a very unique vibe. They are very cool after being eliminated too, thanking their voters and being gracious. I certainly think they deserved to stay more than Arin Ray, CeCe Frey or Paige Thomas this week.

Oh look, here’s our distraction for the evening as Taylor Swift takes the stage to perform “State of Grace”. Yawn. Sorry, I’m just not a Taylor Swift fan. Taylor Swift tells the competitors and audience that no matter how things are going for you that you should be nice. Wow. What a revelation.

Finally, we are through with being nice and we’re on to more elimination results on The X Factor season 2. Instead of learning who the second act to be eliminated tonight is, the hosts reveal some of the contestants who are safe and through to The X Factor USA top 10:

Arin Ray
Carly Rose Sonenclar
Diamond White
Tate Stevens
Vino Alan

Well, from that list, it looks like CeCe Frey is still in a lot of danger of going home tonight if Arin Ray has been declared safe. Then again, it could be Beatrice Miller getting kicked out tonight. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until the end of the show to find out.

Oh holy cow, we have more results now and Beatrice Miller and CeCe Frey are also safe! Wow, that is unexpected. That leaves just Paige Thomas, Fifth Harmony and Jennel Garcia as the three possible acts going home tonight. Ouch!

And after another commercial break, the bottom two are revealed and it is… Paige Thomas and Jennel Garcia! Fifth Harmony will move on to The X Factor season 2 top 10. Demi Lovato is very upset that the bottom two are both on her team and she is crying.

The bottom two singers will now dual in a sing-off to determine who will go home. The judges will vote on who they like the best. If there is a tie, the number of votes cast by the viewers will determine the winner and loser.

Jennel Garcia performs “The Reason” by Hoobastank

Paige Thomas performs “Paradise” by Coldplay

Now it is time for the judges to vote on who they want to stay and who they want to send home.

L. A. Reid votes for Paige to stay.

Britney Spears votes for Paige to stay.

Simon will not vote until Demi votes. Very rude. It goes back and forth. Finally, Demi announces her vote.

Demi votes for Jennel to stay.

Simon votes for Paige to stay.

Jennel Garcia is the second act to be eliminated on The X Factor USA season 2. What a shame. Here are the final results in order by this week’s voting rank:

The X Factor USA season 2 Top 10:

1. Tate Stevens
2. Carly Rose Sonenclar
3. Vino Alan
4. Emblem3
5. CeCe Frey
6. Fifth Harmony
7. Diamond White
8. Beatrice Miller
9. Arin Ray
10. Paige Thomas
