Zack Galifianakis lights one up for Prop 19

Viewers of Real Time with Bill Maher got a little surprise on Friday night when actor Zack Galifianakis came out to promote his new movie, Due Date.  At one point during the episode, the topic at hand was the impending vote on Proposition 19, which aims to legalize marijuana in the state of California.

During the discussion, Galifianakis produced a joint from his pocket, lit it up, and took a hit on live television.  There were mixed reactions of shock and disbelief, at which point Galifianakis handed the joint to another Maher guest, Margaret Hoover, who confirmed by smell that it was the real deal.  Hoover, a conservative Republican, laughed at the stunt but declined to partake.

  1. It’s amazing how the media has overlooked the fact that many pot-smokers themselves are against Prop 19, for several reasons. It would take too long to list them all here, but a website that covers it quite thoroughly is (Marijuana Users Against Prop 19).

  2. Zack Galifianakis did more harm than good for Prop 19’s victory. Unless you can guarantee a massive turn out from the 18 to 30 year old voters the majority of California’s grandpas and grandmas will see to it that prop 19 is defeated.
