Football star Brett Favre could become the first grandfather in history to play in the NFL if he returns to the field in 2010. The 41-year-old quarterback’s daughter, Brittany Favre, reportedly has a bun in the oven and is expected to give birth to her first child soon – if she hasn’t already.
Although Brett Favre has not yet announced whether or not he will return for a 20th season, if he did it would make him the first grandfather in history to play in the NFL – at least as far as we know.
The news of Brittany Favre’s baby on the way surfaced in a tweet from ESPN Milwaukee journalist Jason Wilde. Larry Fitzgerald Sr. also reported the news of the impending birth in the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder.
USA Today reports that Brittany Favre has already given birth to a son and says the news was confirmed to ESPN by Brett Favre himself. We haven’t actually seen an official announcement Favre is a granddaddy yet, but we’re sure it won’t be long now.
Congrats to Brittany and Brett on the new addition to the family!
Tiger Woods spoke to the press on Monday at the Augusta National Golf Club, apologizing again for causing “so much harm” to his loved ones and fans over his “transgressions” with various alleged mistresses. Woods will return to golf at the US Masters on Thursday after nearly five months of being absent from the game.
“I lied to a lot of people, deceived a lot of people, kept others in the dark,” Tiger Woods said in the pre-Masters press conference. “‘I fooled myself as well. The full magnitude of it, it’s pretty brutal. I take full responsibility for what I’ve done, and I don’t take that lightly.”
Woods said he was blown away by the encouragement he received from fans when he hit the course at Augusta National to practice for the Masters. “I tell you what; the galleries couldn’t have been nicer… Today was just something that really touched my heart pretty good.” (Read the full Tiger Woods press conference transcript here.)
Joslyn James, one of Tiger Woods’ alleged mistresses, called the golfer’s press conference a “big malarkey” and said all of the women who had relationships with him “deserve an apology.” Celebrity attorney Gloria Allred, who is representing James, echoed her client’s statement. “Women are not transgressions, they’re human beings.”
Really, we don’t think anyone who gets down and dirty with an obviously married man has a right to any kind of apology. All those “women” out there who are enjoying their 15 minutes of fame for sleeping with Tiger Woods needing be handing out apologies instead – to Woods’ wife and children.
The Notre Dame football team is reeling this morning with the news that star recruit Matt James died after falling from a motel balcony Friday evening. The star high school football player signed a letter of intent to play with Notre Dame in February.
Matt James’ death happened around 6:30 PM on Friday in Panama City Beach, FL. James reportedly fell from the third-floor balcony of the Days Inn Motel where he was staying on spring break. According to police reports, the 17-year-old died instantly.
“The Notre Dame football program is in a state of disbelief and incredible sadness with the news of this tragic event,” Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said in a press statement. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Matt James in this most trying of times.”
“On a personal level, I got to know Matt quite well over the past few years and he was a wonderful young man from a great family. Matt was an extremely talented person who was very bright and possessed a great dry sense of humor. He could not wait to join the Notre Dame family,” Kelly said. “My prayers and deepest condolences go out to the James family as well as the St. Xavier High School and Cincinnati communities.”
An investigation has been launched into Matt James death and toxicology tests are planned.
More people have come forward to claim Tiger Woods may have lied about a racist attack he suffered on his first day of kindergarten. Tiger Woods’ kindergarten teacher, Maureen Decker, held a press conference Friday to refute Woods’ story he was the victim of a racially motivated attack as a child in her class.
In an interview for the book The Wicked Game, Tiger Woods claimed that a group of older children tied him to a tree and sprayed “n****r” on his chest on his first day at kindergarten. Ms. Maureen Decker, Woods’ kindergarten teacher, says no such thing ever happened.
Donald Hill, the former principal of Cerritos Elementary School, said in a press statement that he never heard of any racist attack against Woods while he was at the school. A parent at the school, Linda DaVeiga, also supports Woods’ kindergarten teacher’s claim that the incident never happened. According to TMZ.com, DaVeiga was around the school “constantly” and heard nothing about any such alleged attack.
In a press conference on Friday with lawyer Gloria Allred, Ms. Decker said she suffers terrible migraine headaches as a result of Tiger Woods’ allegations that she “really didn’t do much of anything” in response to the incident he claims shaped his “racial identity.”
If Tiger Woods really did lie about being a victim of a racist attack as a child, we personally think that’s about the worst thing he’s done – even above and beyond all his sordid sexual escapades behind his wife’s back. We really hope Woods wouldn’t be that disgusting.
This has got to be one of the weirdest – and maybe most disturbing – stories to come out about Tiger Woods so far. The golf legend’s kindergarten teacher, Ms. Maureen Decker, has come forward claiming Woods blatantly lied in 2005 when he told a story about how he was a victim of racism as a child.
Back in 2005, Tiger Woods told a moving story of being victimized as a child because of his race. In an interview for a book written by Charles Barkley, Woods said he was abused by a group of kids on his first day of kindergarten because of his skin color.
“I became aware of my racial identity on my first day of school, on my first day of kindergarten,” Woods said in the interview. “A group of sixth graders tied me to a tree, spray-painted the word ‘n****r’ on me, and threw rocks at me. That was my first day of school. And the teacher really didn’t do much of anything.”
Well, now that teacher has decided to speak out about Woods’ story of her failure to respond to the alleged attack against Woods in kindergarten, according to TMZ.com. Backed by celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred, Ms. Decker claims that “no such incident ever occurred to Tiger Woods while he was under [my] care as a kindergarten pupil on the first day of class.”
“No teacher should ever be treated in such a callous and unfair manner, especially one such as Ms. Decker” Gloria Allred said in a press statement. “The time for Tiger Woods to make direct amends to her is now.”
Ouch! It’s gotta hurt when even your old kindergarten teacher is out to get you!
Did Tiger Woods alleged mistress Rachel Uchitel really receive a $10 million payout to keep her mouth shut about her affair with the golf legend? If the rumor is true, we seriously hope Elin Nordegren is reconsidering those divorce papers right about now.
Rachel Uchitel, the first of Tiger Woods’ alleged mistresses to be named in the press, reportedly agreed to a $10 million deal to hold her silence about her sexual escapades with the golfer. According to TMZ.com, Utichel signed an “ironclad confidentiality agreement” in exchange for the huge monetary settlement.
While we find it a bit much to believe Tiger Woods would shell out $10 million to an ex-mistress, it’s not like he doesn’t have the money to spare. If Utichel did get anything close to that amount of money from Woods, she’s definitely going to make the other ladies jealous. Several of Woods’ other alleged mistresses reportedly received only a few hundred thousand dollars to purchase their silence. Others got nothing at all and had to earn their fees from the tabloids.
We’re just dying to hear what exactly Rachel Utichel knows about Tiger Woods’ bedroom life that is worth $10 million in cold, hard cash?
Pittsburgh Steelers NFL star Santonio Holmes has been accused of assaulting a woman with a glass and cutting her face, according to a lawsuit filed last week. Anshonoe Mills claims Santonio Holmes attacked her during an argument in a bar in Orlando on March 7.
According to the lawsuit filed in Florida, Santonio Holmes and the woman had a verbal disagreement over seating in the VIP area of the Rain Nightclub. When the woman refused to move out of Holmes’ way, she claims the former Super Bowl MVP launched a glass full of liquor at her face. The woman alleges the glass sliced open her face and nearly cut her eye.
The woman reportedly flagged down officers from the Orlando Police Department, but claims they joined with Santonio to “pressure” her not to press charges against the football player. Santonio also allegedly offered the woman money to keep quiet about the incident because “he was an NFL star and could not get into trouble.
The Steelers are reportedly currently investigating the allegations against Santonio. So far it’s been a rather scandalous year for Steelers players, with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger still undergoing investigation for an alleged sexual assault against a woman in Georgia on March 5. Roethlisberger has not yet been charged in relation to that incident and has denied the accusation.
