The next Wonder Woman has been cast and the woman who will be taking on the iconic superheroine next will be Israeli actress and model Gal Gadot. Best known for her role as Gisele Harabo in The Fast and the Furious film franchise, Gadot will suit up as Wonder Woman in the sequel to 2013’s Superman remake, Man of Steel.

There is no doubt that Gal Gadot is gorgeous. After all, she won the 2004 Miss Israel competition and competed in the Miss Universe pageant. She’s also tough. At 20 years old, Gadot joined the Israeli Army and served in the Israel Defense Forces as a fitness trainer. But is she really the right woman to play Wonder Woman?
Other than her appearances in three of the Fast & Furious movies as Gisele, Gal Gadot does not really have a long history of experience as an actress. She popped up in 2010’s Date Night and Knight and Day, but we wouldn’t exactly call her a major leading lady.
If there is ever to be a standalone Wonder Woman film made in the future, we’re not sure Gadot has the chops to support a feature film as the lead protagonist. We’d hate to see her play Wonder Woman in the Batman versus Superman Man of Steel sequel and then have the role recast again for a hopeful future movie about the Amazon with the gold lasso of truth.
For now, we’ll give Gadot the benefit of the doubt and hope that she won’t just be featured as a whole lot of eye candy with little substance in the Man of Steel sequel. For us though, there just won’t ever be a Wonder Woman as awesome as Lynda Carter, no matter who steps into the red, white, and blue.
