X Factor 2012 Winner Tate Stevens Replaces Idol’s Phillip Phillips on New Year’s Special

The X Factor USA 2012 winner Tate Stevens is already translating his success on the reality talent show into real world rewards. Stevens has been tapped to replace American Idol 2012 winner Phillip Phillips on FOX’s New Year’s Eve Live! special. FOX announced the replacement after Phillips bowed out of the program due to a scheduling conflict.

Dropping out of a prime New Year’s Eve gig so close to the date is just a bit odd. The show could rake in tons of revenue for the entertainers from millions of potential music buyers. I’m not sure what kind of “scheduling conflict” could prompt Phillips to cancel last minue, but it’s a sweet deal for replacement Tate Stevens. Let’s just hope the real reason behind the American Idol winner skipping out on the program isn’t health-related or anything serious.

New American Idol 2013 judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey have been caught on video having a nasty catfight during auditions for the next season of the hit FOX show. After Mariah Carey reportedly sniped at Nicki Minaj with a snarky comment, the rapper slammed back at the diva with foul-mouthed rant captured on camera.

Tabloid sources are reporting the verbal spat erupted after Mariah Carey allegedly called Nicki Minaj a b**ch. Carey had reportedly been goading Minaj for hours during the American Idol 2013 auditions in Charlotte, North Carolina, according to the New York Daily News. TMZ.com reports sources said Nicki Minaj actually threatened to “knock out” Mariah Carey in response to her insults. That part of the exchange between the two women was not captured on video.

There has been mass speculation on who will serve as the new American Idol 2013 judges when the new season premieres in September. With the departure of both Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, rumors are rampant about who will replace them on American Idol season 12.

Among those possibly being considered as American Idol 2013 judges is superstar Mariah Carey. If original American Idol judge Randy Jackson sticks around for season 12, he would have the inside track to bring Carey on board since he serves as the singer’s manager.

American Idol Judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez Out

American Idol 2012 judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez have confirmed they will not return for the American Idol 2013 season. Although it has long been suspected Jennifer Lopez would not return for another season as an American Idol judge, Steven Tyler’s depature comes as something of a surprise to the show’s fans.

“After some long…hard…thoughts…I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit,” Tyler said in a press statement earlier this week on his depature as an American Idol judge. “I strayed from my first love, AEROSMITH, and I’m back – but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band.”
