Fabulous news to all those Keith Urban lovers out there hoping to see him as a judge again on American Idol 2014! It’s official, Keith will be coming back as an American Idol season 13 judge. Who Will Replace American Idol Judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez?

There has been mass speculation on who will serve as the new American Idol 2013 judges when the new season premieres in September. With the departure of both Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, rumors are rampant about who will replace them on American Idol season 12.

Among those possibly being considered as American Idol 2013 judges is superstar Mariah Carey. If original American Idol judge Randy Jackson sticks around for season 12, he would have the inside track to bring Carey on board since he serves as the singer’s manager.

American Idol Judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez Out

American Idol 2012 judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez have confirmed they will not return for the American Idol 2013 season. Although it has long been suspected Jennifer Lopez would not return for another season as an American Idol judge, Steven Tyler’s depature comes as something of a surprise to the show’s fans.

“After some long…hard…thoughts…I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit,” Tyler said in a press statement earlier this week on his depature as an American Idol judge. “I strayed from my first love, AEROSMITH, and I’m back – but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band.”

Nigel Lythgoe Returns to American Idol: Wants Paula Abdul Back Too

Former executive producer Nigel Lythgoe has confirmed he will be returning to American Idol for the show’s upcoming 10th season. Lythgoe, executive producer and judge on So You Think You Can Dance, would also like to see former judge Paula Abdul return to the show.

“I still love Paula,” Nigel Lythgoe told Daily Variety. Paula Abdul is currently working on her own new dancing show on CBS, but Lythgoe would dearly like to get her back on American Idol too. “She’s signed to CBS, probably exclusively, but I’d recommend we have her in a heartbeat.”

Ellen DeGeneres recently announced she would not be returning to American Idol and rumor has it songwriter Kara DioGuardi might be out as well. Simon Cowell, of course, is already long out the door. Only Randy Jackson will remain to represent the original judging cast. We’d personally love to see Abdul back at the American Idol judges table too.

Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler and diva Jennifer Lopez are rumored to be working on deals with FOX to possibly come on board as American Idol judges. So far Lythgoe and FOX are keeping quiet about the rumors.

American Idol Replacing Simon Cowell with Ryan Seacrest?

Will American Idol producers keep it in the family when they replace outgoing judge Simon Cowell? Rumor has it AI is considering doing just that by moving host Ryan Seacrest into Cowell’s soon to be vacated seat on the judging panel.

According to a report from E! Online, American Idol producers are mulling the idea of replacing Simon Cowell with Ryan Seacrest for the next season of the show. Seacrest would allegedly continue to host the show as well, pulling a crazed double-duty shift.

When asked about the possible switch, an unnamed ‘insider’ reportedly told E! Online “anything is possible. Stay tuned.”

Personally, we’re calling this one as just an idle rumor with no real substance behind it at this point. Ryan Seacrest has done an admirable enough job holding on to his American Idol hosting gig this long. But we’re not really feeling him as a judge.

If American Idol is going to survive the loss of Simon Cowell, producers are going to have to find someone with a lot more star power than Seacrest – and we’re pretty sure they are well aware of it.
