Beyonce was on hand at the presidential inauguration on Monday to perform the National Anthem but instead decided to go with a pre-recorded performance. While Beyonce has not admitted directly that she mouthed the words to the song the confirmation instead came from Kristin DuBois, Public Affairs Chief For The Marine Band.
“All music is pre-recorded for the ceremony because there are so many eventualities and conditions that day. We performed, live, the band. But we received last-minute word that Beyonce was going to use the pre-recorded vocal track. Those were the instructions we were given. We don’t know what the reason why,” DuBois told PageSix.
While pre-recorded performances are commonplace at the inauguration another big name singer managed to perform live. Kelly Clarkson had no trouble stepping up to the challenge, DuBois explained to HollywoodLife. “It’s not because she couldn’t sing, something had to have happened that prevented her from doing that. Kelly Clarkson did sing live and the band accompanied her.”
You can watch both performances below and see who you think did it better. Beyonce or Kelly Clarkson?

Well it ain’t “Dancing With the Stars,” but Katherine Webb, Miss Alabama, has joined ABC’s “Celebrity Diving.”
The beauty queen who has become a household name since appearing in the crowd on ESPN had allegedly been offered up a spot on DWTS, but maybe the rumors were only partly true. Instead of DWTS she faced off against other “celebrities” and paired up with the NFL’s Ndamukong Suh to jump in to a pool for points… Yeah, that has to be one of the worst show ideas I’ve ever heard of.
Early rumors that Webb’s boyfriend A.J. McCarron had been fighting her fame seem to have been laid to rest, though we may still have yet to see how protective of the woman he’s been dating for just a few months now.
Now I dislike Chris Brown as much as the next person, but a hoax like SWATing isn’t cool no matter who is on the receiving end.
Police responded with potentially deadly force on Monday to a call purportedly coming from the address of Chris Brown’s home in Hollywood. The caller claimed a domestic dispute was taking place with the husband going for his gun.
When a call like that goes in the police have to respond and are doing so with the perception and expectation that they are going to be met with force.
Taylor Swift and Harry Styles may have broken up the other week after dating for about fifteen minutes, but don’t tell her that.
Swift was spotted flying to the UK despite having no “obvious reason or promo duties in London this week,” a source told The Sun. The source also claimed a meeting between the two brief lovebirds was planned.
After Taylor arrived in London on her private jet she headed to a hotel nearby the home of Styles who had just returned for a short rest after a visit to Japan for a promo tour.
Harry better watch out or he may end up the target of more than just one song on Swift’s next album. Best of luck, Harry.
Life continues to be good for Miss Alabama Katherine Webb who shot to stardom after being called out on television for being really, really good looking.
The beauty pageant queen revealed she was offered a spot on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” reality competition show though she hasn’t decided whether she’ll accept. Considering she has decided to move to New York, another bit of information shared by Webb, that’ll means there’s a little jet setting going on between the coasts.
While the DWTS offer has yet to be confirmed by ABC it’s definite that she’s spending some time up in New York City making friends in high places.
Webb met with Donald Trump today after tweeted a picture of her and The Donald in his office late last week.
Katherine likely has no shortage of options these days, so we’re sure to see more of her soon.
Pregnant Kim Kardashian just can’t wait to find out the sex of the bundle of joy she’s carrying. For Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, there is no fun in the mystery of waiting until the baby is born to decide what color to buy their baby accessories in. They plan to find out as soon as possible if they are having a boy or a girl.
“Of course I do want to know,” Kim Kardashian told Us Weekly. “I can’t find out yet, but I do want to know. No preference, I just want a healthy baby.”
Can anyone break the new Lady Gaga Twitter record of 20 million followers? From what the statistics say, it doesn’t look like that is going to happen any time soon. Pop megastar Lady Gaga became the most popular person ever on Twitter this week when she surpassed 20 million followers. The @ladygaga Twitter feed is the first to ever achieve that many followers, beating out the second runner-up Justin Bieber Twitter feed by a cool 2 million, according to TwitterCounter.com.
The Lady Gaga Twitter feed became the most popular celebrity page on the social networking site way back in August, 2010 when it soared past the Britney Spears Twitter feed. At present, the Britney Spears Twitter feed only has about 13.5 million followers, way behind the current celebrity leaders.
