It’s the awards ceremony that actually reflects what we like, and this year it seems we like one thing more than anything else: Twilight. Â Eclipse tops the 2011 People’s Choice Awards list with eight nominations, making it the most likely to win a ton of awards. Â If you’re not into Twilight, Glee also got five nominations, and poor little Justin Bieber only got two.
As awards shows go, though, this one should be pretty good, as it’s going to be hosted by Queen Latifah, and she’s always pretty entertaining. Â The show will air on the 5th of January, so you can put it on your new year’s resolutions list to catch that.
Despite appearances, it seems Britney Spears is actually doing something besides shopping and cameos on Glee.  Her manager says that she’s in the studio, working on a few songs that will hopefully turn into her next album… but it’s not certain when this will materialize.  Things are clearly in the early stages, as there is not release date for the album yet, and it’s not clear if there’s even been a serious start on recording.  So don’t don’t hold your breath just yet, but word has it that the album will be out sometime in 2011, and that it’s going to be produced by Max Martin, who was producing for Britney back when she was making back-to-back hits.  Sounds like we could have a winner on our hands, eventually.
I’ve always been kind of lukewarm about Glee, but it looks like tonight’s episode is going to be worth watching, whether you follow the show or not. They’re doing a Britney Spears theme this time, and apparently Britney herself is going to be appearing. The cast have been really talking it up on YouTube, and from what I’ve seen of the teasers, it’s going to be pretty hot. Okay, it might be kind of boring to see Britney doing stuff that’s not nutso crazy, but come on – the woman is 28 years old now, it’s about time for her to grow up and get her comeback rolling. While Hollywood is much more forgiving these days of women daring to try to start over after the age of 30, it can be much more difficult, so if she can really make an effort this time, she’s got a two-year head start.
