Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z To Go On Tour . The “Suit & Tie” collaborators are planning a summer stadium tour, according to multiple reports. It’s believed that the music superstars would visit 10 or more cities, although no detailshave been confirmed. The singer hinted at some big news via Twitter after the Grammys.
“Big news coming out after Justin’s #Grammys performance. Stay tuned or you’ll miss it! #moreJT –teamJT.” Jay-Z’s wife Beyonce just unveiled her own major world tour. He and Timberlake brought the Grammy Awards audience to its feet with their joint performance on Sunday. “We’re definitely going to go on tour . . . I don’t know how much I should say . . . It’s going to be a lot of fun, I know that, “ he revealed in an interview later.
Rapper Jay-Z surprised commuters on Saturday in New York when he decided to hop the subway to work. Jay-Z boarded the Subway in Manhattan and rode the train to Brooklyn for a performance at the new Barclays Center. Several lucky fans managed to catch the Jay-Z subway ride on tape, proving that even the ultra famous just sometimes would rather ride the subway than deal with New York street traffic.
Or that maybe Jay-Z just really wanted to create a spectacle and drum up some media attention by invading the New York subway with a cadre of bodyguards and having a crowd of commuters freak out and follow him around like a pack of hounds…
She may have gone on hiatus due to some health troubles and throat surgery but Adele didn’t take a hit in her popularity this year. The British singer was nominated for six Grammy Awards last night including for album of the year, record of the year, and song of the year. But it’s Kanye West leading the pack with the highest number of nominations: seven, and many for his collaboration with Jay-Z.
Close behind were the Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars, each with six nominations. Bon Iver, Nicki Minaj, Mumford & Sons and Rihanna each earned four nominations.
Here’s a list of some of the top noms – some new-comers and a few stand-by favorites
For record of the year, nominees were Adele (“Rolling in the Deep”), Bruno Mars (“Grenade”), Bon Iver (“Holocene”), Mumford and Sons (“The Cave”) and Katy Perry (“Firework”).
Album nods go to Adele (21), the Foo Fighters (Wasting Light), Lady Gaga (Born this Way), Bruno Mars (Doo-Wops & Hooligans), and Rihanna (Loud).
Vying for Song of the Year: Kanye West and Rihanna (“All of the Lights”), Mumford and Sons (“The Cave”), Bruno Mars (“Grenade”), Bon Iver (“Holocene”) and Adele (“Rolling in the Deep”).
Yes, for some reason Rihanna keeps sneaking her way in there; hopefully this is the year that someone with real talent trumps her pop appeal.
Either Beyonce is really bad at math or her February due date was just a ruse (although both are totally possible). Of course there were a couple assumptions made on the part of her fans and the tabloids. Apparently when she announced her pregnancy at the VMA’s people assumed she was about three months pregnant, but she was actually much farther along than that.
Behind-the-scenes footage from her “Countdown” music video shoot shows her holding a newspaper with the date September 23rd and saying: “Right now I’m actually shooting the video for ‘Countdown’ and I’m six months pregnant, pretending that my stomach is flat in body suits. But thank god you can’t really tell from the front, but when I turn to the side.” Doing the math, that would make her due … NEXT MONTH!
Camouflaging a pregnancy at SIX MONTHS? That costume artist should win an award.
It was announced early this morning that Beyonce and Jay-Z are expecting their first child, cutting off Beyonce’s plans to get in the studio and record a new album. Â The pair are not only ridiculously rich and powerful, they’ve also got musical genes that are now being combined into some sort of super-child that we should probably be afraid of.
No word yet on the due date, only that Beyonce is in her first trimester, and she’s ecstatic about the news. Â I can’t imagine that this baby is going to be anything short of phenomenally talented and, if Beyonce is anything to go by, impossibly good looking.
Will and Jada Smith now have a second child that’s headed to superstardom. Â Their daughter Willow Smith, only 9 years old, has just released her debut single, entitled “Whip My Hair” (yes, that’s really what it’s called). Â Smith is signed on Roc Nation, Jay-Z‘s label, and the single already appears to be doing well, with close to half a million views after only a few days.
If you’ve heard the song, you can understand the concerns that some people have raised about whether such mature themes about partying are appropriate material for a 9-year-old singer. Â Jay-Z seems to think there’s nothing wrong with it, arguing that “when you have that sort of talent, there is no such thing as too young.” Â I think in Jay-Z’s case, there’s no such thing as too rich, either, and the way this single is going, it’s bound to make a pretty penny for him.
Jay-Z and Stevie Wonder tore up the main stage last night for day 2 of the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tennessee. Around 70,000 people were reportedly in attendence at Bonnaroo for Staruday’s final main-stage show.
“Wait till I tell my mom Stevie Wonder stayed for my set!” Jay-Z yelled to the crowd before tearing into a 90-minute set on the main stage at Bonnaroo. Stevie Wonder, who played a two-hour set before Jay-Z, did indeed stay to check out Jay-Z’s performance. Although several high profile cameos were speculated for the set, the only guest on stage during Jay-Z’s set was Bridget Kelly, who stepped in on “Empire State of Mind”.
Meanwhile, over at the Bonnaroo comedy tent, Conan O’Brien joked with the crowd that he loves “nothing more than doing comedy in a tent at one in the afternoon for people who haven’t slept for two days.” O’Brien’s appearance at the Bonnaroo music festival marked the first time the comedian has ever performed at a festival. Fans reportedly started lining up at 5 AM to see the former Tonight Show host.
Other notable highlights from Saturday at Bonnaroo included reggae legend Jimmy Cliff having a serious blast on stage at 62 and Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo gifting the crowd with a Lady Gaga impersonation during the band’s set.
