Britney Rings in a New Decade

Britney turns 30?! How did that happen? We swear she was just 21, in all her poppy princess glory. Yes, we’ve chosen to block out the intervening hot mess, head-shaving, baby-rearing, meltdown-having years. And fortunately she appears to have somewhat emerged on the other side. (Let that be a lesson to you Lindsay Lohan!)

Britney celebrated in a relatively simple way – by ice skating with her boyfriend in Houston. Of course, nothing is ever totally simple for a celeb right of passage. Meanwhile, her famous friends were sending her well-wishes and homemade videos. Kim Kardashian sent her wish via a video on Celebuzz: “Happy birthday to the beautiful Miss Britney Spears! Welcome to the 30’s club, Brit!!”

Lady Gaga, Justin Beieber, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Heidi Klum, Miley Cyrus, Ryan Seacrest and many other sent their fond regards, which Britney no doubt enjoyed reading while hanging out  with her sons Preston, 6, and Jayden, 5.

Britney goes back to South America Saturday for her tour, playing a free show in Mexico City this weekend.

 

Ryan Seacrest Stalker Sentenced to Two Years in Jail

A man who went after Ryan Seacrest with a knife twice last year has been sentenced to two years in prison. 26-year-old Chidi Uzomah, a.k.a. the Ryan Seacrest stalker, pleaded no contest to felony stalking in March. Now he’ll be spending a couple of years in jail pondering his evil stalker ways.

Chidi Uzomah tried to attack Ryan Seacrest with a knife last September outside of an Orange County hospital. A month later, Uzomah stalked his way – again with a knife – into the E! building where Seacrest shoots his TV show.

Luckily Ryan Seacrest’s stalker never managed to get his hands – or knife – on the American Idol host. In addition to his jail sentence, Uzomah has been ordered to stay away from Seacrest for 10 years.

All we have to say is that when this dude does get out of prison, we hope Seacrest has some extra security lined up. We doubt this crazy dude is going to listen to that court order any more than he followed the restraining order he was under the second time he went after Seacrest.

American Idol Replacing Simon Cowell with Ryan Seacrest?

Will American Idol producers keep it in the family when they replace outgoing judge Simon Cowell? Rumor has it AI is considering doing just that by moving host Ryan Seacrest into Cowell’s soon to be vacated seat on the judging panel.

According to a report from E! Online, American Idol producers are mulling the idea of replacing Simon Cowell with Ryan Seacrest for the next season of the show. Seacrest would allegedly continue to host the show as well, pulling a crazed double-duty shift.

When asked about the possible switch, an unnamed ‘insider’ reportedly told E! Online “anything is possible. Stay tuned.”

Personally, we’re calling this one as just an idle rumor with no real substance behind it at this point. Ryan Seacrest has done an admirable enough job holding on to his American Idol hosting gig this long. But we’re not really feeling him as a judge.

If American Idol is going to survive the loss of Simon Cowell, producers are going to have to find someone with a lot more star power than Seacrest – and we’re pretty sure they are well aware of it.

Simon Cowell ‘Very Sad’ About Leaving American Idol

American Idol judge Simon Cowell told host Ryan Seacrest he is “very sad” to be leaving the show. Not sad enough, however, to stick around for another season. “I think you gotta know when it’s time to go,” Cowell told Seacrest on his KIIS-FM morning show Tuesday.

Simon Cowell will be leaving American Idol after this season to play judge on the U.S. version of The X Factor. Cowell said he’d always intended to bring The X Factor to America and initially thought he would do both shows. “But, you know about overexposure Ryan, you can’t be on TV too much,” Cowell said. “So that was really the decision. I thought about staying on and doing both shows, but then I thought people would genuinely get sick and tired of me.”

As for rumors former American Idol judge Paula Abdul will be joining The X Factor judging panel, Cowell refused to comment. “You’ll have to wait and see,” he said cryptically.

So Simon Cowell will be leaving one television reality talent competition for another television reality talent competition. Pretty much we think Cowell realizes American Idol is on the fast road to the cancel heap in another season or two and he hopes moving to The X Factor will give him a reboot in TV fame and fortune – without having to learn how to do a new job.

Alleged Ryan Seacrest Stalker Arrested Carrying Knife

A man accused of attacking Ryan Seacrest‘s bodyguard with a knife last month has been arrested by police. Chidi Uzomah, the alleged Ryan Seacrest stalker, was taken into custody after reportedly being found inside the E! building where Seacrest works.

According to TMZ.com, Chidi Uzomah is the same scary stalker who allegedly tried to slash one of Seacrest’s guards with a knife outside a hospital last month after trying to get into a car with the American Idol host. The tabloid site claims a source told them Uzomah had a knife on him at the E! building as well.

Details are sketchy so far, but the alleged stalker reportedly entered the lobby of the E! building and asked to see Ryan Seacrest. A guard recognized him and called the Los Angeles police.

chidi_uzomahChidi Uzomah pleaded guilty last month to three misdemeanors over the previous stalking incident involving Seacrest. He was placed on three months’ probation and ordered to stay away from Seacrest.

Apparently, stalker guy didn’t understand the directions from the judge very well. Which will likely land him some actual, well-deserved, jail time for his second stalking incident.
