WARNING: THE VOICE SEASON 3 SPOILERS AHEAD!
This post contains The Voice spoilers from this week’s elimination results show. Please stop reading here if you do not want to know what happened or who went home on The Voice season 3 Tuesday night!
This season on The Voice results show for the semifinals, only one singer will be eliminated. Who was voted off The Voice 2012 season 3 this week will again be left entirely up to the viewers. The three remaining contestants will all move forward to compete in The Voice finale round next week.
Honestly, the decision to have three contestants in the finals rather than two was probably to keep the ‘team’ aspect of The Voice season 3 coaches competition in play to the very end. Otherwise we might have ended up with Team Blake Shelton or Team Cee Lo Green fighting amongst themselves for the title of The Voice season 3 winner. This way, we know that both Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green will still have at least one team member left going into The Voice finals this season.
As for eliminated team coaches Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera, they will just have to sit back and watch The Voice season 3 finals from the loser seats. With no singers from their teams left in the competition at this point, they are mostly just pretty decoration to look at or ignore as one prefers. In a way, it is kind of fun that Adam Levine is no longer in the running to win this year, because it is kind of sweet to listen to him moon over the talents of the remaining competitors without feeling guilty at perhaps insulting his own contestants. I just get the feeling that he will honestly be sad no matter who was voted off The Voice this week.
Tonight on The Voice 2012 season 3, the top 3 finalists will be revealed but, of course, we probably won’t know who they are until the very end of the show. Instead, we’ll probably learn the first two who are safe staggered out through the show, then have to wait until the very last minute for the announcement of the last finalists.
Meanwhile, the viewers will be entertained (or at least distracted from biting their nails) by performances from three of last season’s The Voice 2012 season 2 contestants. Country girl RaeLynn will take the stage to perform her new song “Boyfriend.” Juliet Simms will be up with her song “Wild Child.” And Chris Mann will deliver a performance of his song “Roads.”
The Voice season 3 top 4 will also be paired up on tonight’s show to sing duets, which should be interesting to watch. I’m curious to see who will be paired with whom in this setup. I think it would be kind of amusing to see Nicholas David and Cassadee Pope in a vocal ballet together. I’m guessing she is more likely to get paired with Trevin Hunte or Terry McDermott.
Speaking of Terry McDermott, I was concerned he might not make it through to The Voice season 3 top 3 because he’s had a few weaker performances the past few weeks. After last night’s amazing rendition of “Let It Be” by The Beatles, however, it would simply be criminal if he got voted off The Voice this week. Nothing against soulful sweetheart Trevin Hunte, but of the final four, he is the one I think is most likely to go home on The Voice tonight.

RECAP: The show opens tonight with a brief review of the performances from the top 4 live show last night and commentary from the judges. Host Carson Daly takes a moment to discuss how iTunes is only one of the five ways of voting and it it really isn’t any more important than any other voting method, blah blah blah. I can only assume The Voice is trying to convince us that the producers are not conspiring to make sure the person with the most iTunes sales wins in hope of actually getting a future blockbuster winner this season.
Carson Daly says all the songs from last night were hits on iTunes, but the real truth is that Trevin Hunte wasn’t anywhere close to the other three on the iTunes chart.
First up to perform their duet on the show tonight are Cassadee Pope and Terry McDermott with “Little Talks” by Of Monsters and Men. I have never heard of this band, but I’m actually liking this duet. I just knew Cassadee would end up singing with Terry because it was just the least awkward pairing for her and (conspiracy theories aside), you know the producers want her to look good because the so important 18 to 24 male viewers think she’s hot.
Next up we have a guest performance from one of my favorite performers on The Voice 2012 season 2, Juliet Simms. She takes the stage with her song “Wild Child”. Sadly, Juliet Simms seems to have gone nutsy as the song is not good and the stage production and outfit are way weird. Not happy about seeing one of my previous favorites turned into this… whatever this is.
Now it is time to learn the first singer who will be safe on The Voice results show tonight. The voters have spoken and the first person who will be going to The Voice season 3 finals is…
I have to say I am very pleased about this choice from the voters. After last night’s terrific performance of “Let It Be,” he really deserved to move on to the finals.
Up on stage with the second duet from the contestants for the night is Nicholas David and Trevin Hunte. Unlike the previous pairing of Terry McDermott and Cassadee Pope, this one is just weird. Although I really dig Nicholas, I’m kind of glad when it is over.
Another guest performance comes next, this time from former The Voice 2012 season 2 country girl RaeLynn of her song “Boyfriend” all about boyfriend theft. I’m still not a country music fan of any kind, but I can’t help liking this chick.
Then we have a bit of The Voice confessionals about who would want to be stranded on a desert island with whom. Boy, they really do stretch to fill time on these results shows don’t they?
You’d think we might find out the next person who is safe tonight after this, but no. Instead, we have another guest performance from a previous The Voice season 2 contestant. So now we have to sit through Chris Mann peforming his single “Roads” before we get more results.
Finally we have the name of the second finalist who is safe tonight and it is…
No surprise on that one at all. If she had been eliminated, that would have been a huge shock. I think we can pretty much call it for Team Blake to win this year. I prefer either Nicholas or Terry over Cassadee Pope, but I just don’t really see either of them beating her in the finals.
Tony Lucca from last season reveals he has been signed to Adam Levine’s record company. That is very cool and maybe will give some hope to some great singers who were previously eliminated this season.
Now we have another duet and it is Nicholas David and Trevin Hunte performing “Hero” by Mariah Carey. Again, it is kind of weird to watch the two of them sing together. It just doesn’t quite work.
At last it is time for the final results! The last person who will be moving on to The Voice 2012 season 3 finals, voted on by America, is…
Trevin Hunte of Team Cee Lo has been eliminated from the competition.
Here are The Voice season 3 top 3 results:
- Terry McDermott
- Cassadee Pope
- Nicholas David
