A rumor going around that Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow might be starring on the next season of “The Bachelor” turns out to be a joke started by the show’s host, Chris Harrison. Tim Tebow would like everyone to know that he will not be appearing on “The Bachelor” any time soon. The whole thing was just a bit of good fun spawned by Harrison as part of an inside joke.
“The Bachelor” host Chris Harrison told “Access Hollywood Live” co-host Kit Hoover during an interview that he had “met Tim Tebow” and talked to him “about becoming our next Bachelor.”
Harrison went on to say that Tim Tebow had even agreed to star on the show, but he would probably not follow through. “He did say yes — but he would never do it… He has a little job called quarterback at least for another year.”
Now, had the whole bit actually been true, it would not have been that much of a stretch. In 2004, New York Giants backup quarterback Jesse Palmer starred on the fifth season of “The Bachelor.” unfortunately, that season turned out to be a bust when Palmer and final rose winner Jessica Bowlin broke-up less than a month after the season finale aired.
On hearing the rumor that he had agreed to possibly star on the next season of “The Bachelor,” Tim Tebow took to his Twitter feed to debunk the gossip. “Haha rumors can be crazy! Even though I’ve watched the show before, I’m definitely not gonna be on The Bachelor,” Tebow Tweeted on Tuesday.
ABC finally revealed on Tuesday that the whole rumor was nothing more than a joke gone viral by “The Bachelor” host Chris Harrison. “We have not approached Tim Tebow about being the next Bachelor. This started as a joke by Chris Harrison and then took on a life of its own,” ABC said in a press statement.
